Info:

For our third Peruvian offer of the 2025 harvest, we’re presenting a delicious washed coffee from our friend Esperanza Coronado. We’ve known Esperanza for a few years now through her work with Alpes Andinos Association based in Jaén, Cajamarca, Peru, a group we’ve worked with for the last five harvests.

At Eastlick, we’ve had the opportunity to travel a number of times to northern Peru to meet and learn about what makes coffee from Cajamarca so great. Just a few hours from the border with Ecuador, the region soars high into the sky with climatic conditions the envy of coffee producers all over the world. Old stock varieties and traditional methods prove themselves time and time again in a part of the coffee growing world that is increasing drawing the attention away from other “powerhouse” regions.

Mrs. Coronado is a producer that lives near the Barro Negro sector of La Coipa, a significant coffee growing region of Cajamarca. She is involved in every aspect of her production, both during and after harvest, improving her quality year after year because she is a member of Alpes Andinos Association, a growers’ association (cooperative) of about 150 members. Alpes Andinos works with their allied producers to improve quality through workshops, trainings, cuppings and access to agronomists who monitor soil health and best practices for improved varieties, etc. Our import partner has been working with Alpes Andinos since 2019, and this is our first year purchasing Esperanza’s harvest.

In the cup, you’ll find an elevated version of a traditional morning cup. Bright, balanced and sweet without leaning too heavily in any one direction. The name of the game here is old faithful! Put it on any brew method and be transported to the Andes.
