Peru: Amazonas El Bebedero Pacamara

from $27.00

Traceability: German Carranza, Gracias a Dios, Amazonas

Process: Natural

Elevation: 5,250 ft (1600 masl)

Notes: Berry Yogurt, Cherry Pie, Cedar

Method: Drip (1:15), Espresso, Cold Brew

Net weight:  12 ounces (340 grams) / 5 lbs (2.27kg)

Info:

We’re continuing our Peru season with another run of coffee from a long time friend and producer partner, German Carranza.

We've carried coffees from German before, an 30 year old, second-generation coffee producer, husband and father of two. Not one to shy away from adventure, German is known to experiment with all sorts of genetic varieties of coffee and post-harvest processing methods.

This time around, we’re roasting a natural process Pacamara. This variety is often perceived as an started-level coffee for next-level understanding of varietal (aka: genetic) differences that express themselves in size, shape and flavor of the bean. A cross of the Brazilian Maragogipe variety with the Pacas variety from El Salvador, this bean is prized across Latin America not only for its impressive bean size, but for it’s semi-exotic flavor that sometimes expresses itself as floral and other times more umami-forward.

German’s take on this coffee shows a berry yogurt side right off the bat, with a cherry pie middle and a fine cedar aftertaste. This a coffee to savor best as a single cup of drip, and maybe as an adventurous espresso.

This semi-rare bean won’t last long, as we’ve only secured about 100 lbs of this masterpiece. Grab a bag and enjoy it while you can!
