We have never been shy about our close relationship with the fine folks at Crop to Cup Coffee Importers – as a former employee at that company, Joel developed some lifelong relationships with a group of passionate people who have been instrumental in helping him develop as a professional, as well as providing some simply fantastic coffees to us and you, our faithful customers over the years.

With that in mind, we present our first Mexico single origin in a few years, this time from from a single producer in small, informal group from Oaxaca. Renown both within Mexico and worldwide as a wonderland of food production and culture, the coffees of Oaxaca are on par with some of the finest washed coffees of the world, showcasing a sparkling acidity and sweet chocolate roundness that makes for a balanced adventure.

Far from the major city centers, where the local indigenous languages are more commonly used than Spanish, these coffees are a minor miracle. The Miramar network (Red de Miramar) is a loosely affiliated group of local small-holder producers that usually band together to find better prices on an international market instead of selling to the first coyote that drives by with a truck and cash in hand. Leonides Castro García is a member of this group along with some family members, dedicated to selective picking and careful washing and drying of his coffees. Best enjoyed as an espresso or filter coffee!
