Net weight: 12 ounces (340 grams) / 5 lbs (2.27 kg)
Traceability: Layo Teraga Cooperative
Process: Washed
Elevation: 7,500 ft (2300 masl)
Notes: Chamomile, Lemon, Peach
Method: Drip (1:16), Espresso, Filter Coffee, Cold Brew
Net weight: 12 ounces/340 grams
Info:
Founded in 1976, the Layo Teraga cooperative provides market access for its smallholder members that would otherwise not have existed in Guji, where prices for coffee have historically been lower than neighboring Gedeo or Sidama zones because of this lack of market access. Located in northern Uraga in the Guji zone, the 1,841 smallholder members of the cooperative grow coffee in gardens around their homes in semi-forested environments at impossibly high elevations of 2342 masl.
Each year, we at Eastlick like to showcase a small number of Ethiopian coffees as an homage to the birthplace of coffee. While we appreciate coffees from all over the world, Ethiopian coffees are an interesting case in the study of genetic diversity and conservation.
This selection from Layo Teraga was sourced by our long-time friends at Crop to Cup Coffee Importers, themselves experts in the field and in the cupping lab. This coffee bursts with florals, sweet citrus and a stone fruit finish.
We only have small amount of this coffee, and won’t have more until next year! Stock up if you’re interested!
